Raptors 103, Knicks 95

It appears that my blog has turned into Raptor recap central. I haven't had a chance to blog about anything else (despite having a lot of things to blog about).

Does my laptop running off my battery break the rules of Earth Hour? Bah, let's recap the game:
  • Back-to-back wins in as long as I can remember means two things: one, I'm out of clean Raptor t-shirts, and two, the Raps are starting to click. Just in time too, the playoffs start in just a few weeks!
  • AP has been solid, like a rock. Or like The Rock. Can you smell what he's cookin'? When I grow up, I'd like to move to 18 Parkerville Court.
  • Andrea Bargnani wants his minutes back, and he's going to take it to the basket to prove it! Good show, Andrea, but Rasho is still my pick going into the final stretch.
  • TJ Ford's fadeaway jumper wasn't dropping when he first came back. Against the Knicks, it seemed to be falling all of the time.
  • Oh Jared Jeffries, my condolences to your ankles. TJ Ford broke em like twigs!
  • Listening to Isiah Thomas bashing never gets old to me. Pay me 20+ million to fuck up a franchise! I can do that.
  • What the fuck is that thing on Jamal Crawford's shoulder? What the hell kind of cut takes this long to heal? Is it a fashion statement, like Nelly's band-aid on his eye?

Raptors 89, Pistons 82

I only wear my Raptors t-shirts after a win, and never on game night (Filipino superstition getting the best of me, I guess). After the Rap's last string of losses, my shirts were starting to grow moss, and stink like someone's nasty feet the last time we hung out at Shaun's.

Anyways, I wore my Raptor's claw t-shirt with a lot of pride today. That's right, we won! Maybe we want to stay at the 7 seed and see if we can beat the Pistons 4 more times? Now, that's crazy talk if I ever heard it. Who writes this shit anyways?
  • Practice time is over, Bargnani. Your development will need to wait another year, we've got a playoff seed to secure.
  • Chauncey Billups is an absolute, disgusting monster. How do you hit clutch 3-balls? you call Mr. Big Shot's number, that's how
  • Jamario Moon!
  • Can we afford to re-sign Jose Calderon? Can we afford not to?
  • It seems like a waste, not giving Jason Kapono PT. It's more of a waste that we don't run plays for him.

Raptors 100, Nuggets 109

The Raptors again fall to a team late in the fourth quarter. Key turnovers and poor shot selection from Jamario Moon are to blame. Ball-hogging from TJ Ford are also to blame. Finally, coach Mitchell's decision to not foul and extend the game are to blame.

You can't blame CB4, he's been stellar since coming back from injury. You also can't blame Anthony Parker, he's been a stud ever since the all-star break.

Unlike the hit television series Lost, Raptors basketball has the same plot every episode. It always ends with heartache.

Raptors 83, Cavaliers 90

Raptors 96, Heat 54

This game was just what the doctor ordered. A game where the Raps could feel good about themselves again, a game for the returning Chris Bosh to ease his way back into game shape, and a game for a masked Italian superhero Andrea Bargnani to explode to the rim.
  • OMG the Heat are horrible! Its a good thing you're also president, Pat Riley, or someone would have fired your ass by now! In fact, you should consider firing yourself from head coaching, and concentrate on rebuilding your team.
  • One of the Raptors commentators said that Dwayne Wade might be the next Anfernee Hardaway: An amazing player whose career will be cut short by injury. What are your thoughts? 2007-2008 has not been kind to him, but I'm hopeful if he takes time to mend, he'll be back at full force next season.
  • Shawn Marion, you wanted to leave the Suns for this!?
  • Carlos Delfino's minutes are being stolen by Jason Kapono.
  • Jamario is taking it to the basket again!
So now that our exhibition contest is out of the way, we now need to face a real team. In fact, it could very well be the team we face in the playoffs. Bron-bron and the trade-deadline revamped Cavs. Can we beat them? Raptor fan always has faith ... Let's Go Raps!

Raptors 79, Jazz 96

Capping off a west coast road trip, we have the "Massacre at Salt Lake City." It was actually a game for 3 quarters, but then the Jazz were like "Fuck off, green Raptors, you ain't beating us!"

Raptors 100, Kings 106

In the words of Bill Walton, "What a disaaaaaster!"

The Raps are in freefall, and need CB4 back really really really bad.
  • Andrea Bargnani, you need a good beating. Maybe that will toughen you up.
  • Rasho, in the words of Bill Walton, "Make a layup!"
  • Jamario Moon, please stop shooting from the 3 point line!
  • Jose Calderon, why are you sucking out? This is not a good time, for real...
  • Kevin Martin used to be a skinny Kid 'n Play look-a-like. Now, he's a bona fide baller.
  • I only wear my Raptors t-shirts when the Raptors win. They're in the closet, collecting dust.

Raptors 105, Nuggets 137

Brutal! After their horrendous first quarter output, I paid little/no attention to this game. Instead, I took a nap on Chin's floor, as this brutal week of working late and watching the Raps on the West coast eventually caught up with me.

One of the only positives through this Bosh-less stretch of losses has been Anthony Parker. The rest of y'all need to D up, and take care of the basketball as well.

Brutal!

Raptors 106, Warriors 117

I'm so brain dead right now, I wasn't sure if I blogged about the Raps-Warriors yet. You see, I decided to stay up and watch the game. I had a coffee late before the game, and took a nap at halftime.

With a few minutes left before the half, the Raps were slowly battling back from a horrible first quarter output. I promised myself I would go to bed if the Raps were down more than 10. At the buzzer, Toronto was down ... exactly ten points.

So I stayed up, and man did I pay the price today. People were asking me questions at work while I was dozing off in front of my computer. How embarrassing.

It would have all been worth it too, except for the "watching my team run out of gas with 5 minutes to go" part. Oh man, what a tease! We had a one point lead, what a comeback! Then, I blinked my eyes once, and we were down 6. I blinked one more time, and we were down 12. What the fuck!

Watching the Warriors perform made me realize just how far the Raptors need to go in order to become a legit playoff contender. Inconsistent output from players like Delfino and Kapono costs us games. Bargnani's slow learning curve costs us games. TJ's selfishness (I thought he was a pass-first point guard?) costs us games.

Most of all, it costs me sleep. And that shit is expensive! Smarten up Raps!

Raptors 108, Lakers 117

I tried and I tried, but I couldn't stay up to watch the whole game. I made it up until halftime, and figured as long as they could control the 3-point line, the Raps would be in good shape.

First thing in the morning, I checked the score. Damn. Good thing I didn't stay up.

What's the deal with the Raps' D? We're seriously missing Garbo. I'm pretty sure Lamar Odom wouldn't have gone 9-12 of CB4 was on the floor. Sigh.

So tonight is another game, and another decision. Can the Raps learn how guard a high-octane western conference offense? Should I stay up to find out? Sigh.

Raptors 114, Sonics 106

The wife and I are rushing to figure out our upgrade options for our new home in Milton. A trip to the Decor Store today came at the cost of Raps-Sonics. But like other games against NBA bottom feeders, I have a hard time watching, because it's a lose-lose situation: If the Raptors win, big whoop. If the Raptors lose, it's painful and embarrassing.

Although I wasn't excited about the game, I was delighted by the outcome. Salami and cheese!
  • Bargnani: 0 for 7 from 3. Ugh!
  • Do you put AP on your fantasy team next week? No CB4, ya heard!
  • Chris Wilcox has big friggin shoulders.
  • I think we're set on our upgrade options for our place!

Raptors 108, Heat 83

Ha! I forgot to blog about this game. Uhhh, yeah, the Heat suck this year. I take solace in the fact that we can at least take one team in a playoff seven-game series (two punks for the price of one!).

Raptors 106, Wizards 110

Watching the Raptors without Chris Bosh is like eating soup with a fork: You're excited, it's so close you can smell it, but in the end, it's very frustrating, and you end up stabbing someone in the eye with your fork. Uhh, that last part thankfully didn't happen ... to me. But it might as well have, cuz I feel more upset right now then if someone had actually used a fork on my pupils (please don't try to test this theory, children).

Please CB4, this group of 3-ball jackers and poor defensive rebounders need you! Look at them!
  • A wasted effort from Andrea Bargnani, who looked good for 3.5 quarters. Unfortunately, we need him to start nailing the clutch 3s at the end of the game, and he's not mentally tough enough to drain them yet.
  • TJ Ford, have you gone loco? What kind of point guard have you become? Find your teammates, and get them the rock!
  • What happened to JK? No burn tonight?

Raptors 87, Magic 102

Until Chris Bosh returns, I think we're going to see a lot of this frustrating basketball. Not tough enough, not gritty enough. So what I'm trying to say is ... CB4, hurry back!

Andrea Bargnani looked good taking it to the basket. But he didn't look good getting blocked and missing layups. Hopefully he'll figure it all out one day.

Put AP on your fantasy team, he's playing sick ball.

What's up with TJ Ford? It's not 1 on 5, it's 5 on 5. He did look good in the first 3 quarters, schooling Carlos Arroyo, but seriously, what the heck was going on in the 4th?

Tomorrow, we play the Heat, and anyone can beat the Heat, right? Right?

Raptors 111, Pacers 122

Consistently inconsistent. Fuck this shit. I feel like huffing and puffing, arching my back, dropping to my knees, clenching my fists and yelling towards the sky from the top of my lungs, "Why basketball gods!!!! Wwwwhhyyyyy!!!"
  • Bargnani looked good again (on the offensive end).
  • Bargnani looked horrible again (on the defensive end).
  • TJ Ford flat out did not want to lose this game.
  • Please tell me that we haven't lost Bosh for an extended period of time. Please.
  • Dunleavy ate us up. Gatdamn!
