Happy Birthday Bay!

Today is my wife's birthday. She is my superwoman. She is my rock. If you've got her email, or her phone number, give her your best wishes. If you don't, leave a comment on this blog post.

It was just a year ago that we had the most drunken debacle in Cathy birthday history. Can we top it? Let's not try. But we'll definitely get together and do something special for her. She deserves it! If you have any ideas, let me know. We'll probably hook up next Saturday.

To my love, enjoy this day, it belongs to you. It's a perfect opportunity to do 2 things: Look back, so you can see how much you've accomplished. And look ahead, to a future filled with family, friends, and all of the happiness you bring into our lives reflected back.

I love you Bay!

Google Maps Street View

Go to http://maps.google.com

Visit a major US City, like Las Vegas.

There will be a new button, called Street View. Click on it.

Click any of the blue outlined streets. Or click on the man and drag him somewhere blue on the map. You get an actual view of that location from street level, as if you were standing there.

What.

The.

Fuck!

When you're done, piss yourself. Hey, that's exactly what I did!

Hate, hate, hate

Time to stop the Vin-sanity & deal Carter
You see that? New Jersey don't want this guy neither. Fuck him! He's poison.

Yahoo Maps Upgrades -- Too Little, Too Late
Here you go, Chin and Shaun. Use Yahoo Maps all you want: They've got terrain overlays and colour-coded neighbourhood information. Isn't that amazing? It pwns Google Maps, right?

Then how come nobody uses it? Stats from last month: 2 visits. Coincidentally, there are two of you!

Surprising album

My coworker came by the other day, and mentioned he was digging Ne-yo's new album, "Because of you." "That's cool" I politely replied, but seriously, I'm supposed to listen to a Ne-yo album? Don't teeny-boppers listen to this guy?

I had no intention of taking his suggestion, but I was lacking in new music. The last album I listened to that I liked was Corinne Bailey Rae's, which was back in January (!).

So, I downloaded it, and listened to it ... and then listened to the whole album two more times that same day. Beginning to end. How many albums can you name that you can listen to beginning to end?

This album has the feel of Michael Jackson, mixed in with Prince, and the lyrics of a young R Kelly. A lot of the tracks have the feel of a 90's R&B album.

I highly recommend "Because of you." Oh yeah, and not passing judgment. But mostly the album.

Ending my french fry ban

It's been over 2 years since I decided to give up french fries. It started when I read the South Beach Diet. It spoke of the evils of refined carbohydrates, and the double evil of taking those carbs and deep frying them in fat.

I told myself, "self, if you can give up fries for a month, then you can do this diet." And if you can do this diet, then you can lose your belly.

Well, I made it the month without eating fries. And then the wife and I went through the diet. And we lost 15+ pounds each. Life was good.

Then, we got lazy. And we gained our weight back. And I never lost my belly. Sigh.

But something funny happened. Despite giving up on the diet, I never gave up on my french fry ban. As months turned into a year, the ban became easier. Coworkers and friends alike mocked me, and took pleasure in tempting and taunting me. Still, I could not be made to break my ban. The thought of ending this streak hurt more than tasting the salty goodness that all of my friends heartlessly ate in front of me. You fucking bastards.

But you know what? The ban is boring me now. Like beating Jon at poker, it's all too easy. So I will end it this year. Maybe I'll start a new ban in 2008. I'll give up hanging out with AI. Wait, that's also too easy.

December 2nd, 2007. I'm going to McDonald's and ordering some fries with a naked chick in them, like the picture. Delicious.

Vintage Vince Carter

The Raps are out of the playoffs, and the New Jersey Nets continue forward. Vince Carter must have been so happy to stick it in Raptor fans' collective faces.

Is Raptor fan upset? Regret trading VC? Fuck no! Our future looks so bright ... The Nets, as long as Carter stays with them, will cursed with championship infertility.

Take tonight's game against the Cavs: A one possession game for most of the fourth quarter, it sets up a stage where superstars and legends are born. It doubles as the canvas for the choke artists.

Where does Wince fit in? He scored 25 points tonight, and added 9 assists and 9 rebounds. But he did it on 6-23 shooting. He missed free throws in the late stages of the fourth. And, trusted with the ball on the Net's last possession, guarded by Eric Snow (are you kidding me?), he turns it over, then whines like a bitch.

He gave the New Jersey "fans" a pinch of taking it to the basket, mixed in with generous helpings of step-back jumpers and three pointers that clang the front iron. The cherry topping: A smile and a giggle in the face of defeat.

Raptor fan remembers this guy: Vintage Vince Carter. 3 quarter performer ... 4th quarter loser. Excellent baskeball player ... Horrible competitor. Watching the Cavs beat VC and Nets made me happy.

Thank you for a wonderful season of basketball

People like to talk about what went wrong during the Raptors' first round exit against the Nets.

I prefer to think about everything that went right. We won 47 games this season. Jose Calderon improved his outside shooting. We were clutch in the fourth quarter, like TJ Ford's buzzer beater against the Clippers, or Bargnani's winner against Portland. Chris Bosh put in a three-pointer against C-Webb and the Sixers.

The ball bounced our way this year. Who can forget Eddie Jordan's face when Mo Pete put in that game tying 3-ball in Washington? Or Chris Bosh's half court heave?

We won our first division title. Kris Humphries played 10 times better than Rafael Araujo. Chris Bosh improved his free throw shooting.

Mo Peterson showed a lot of playoff grit. Andrea Bargnani picked it up in games 4, 5, and 6. Chris Bosh gave us a great 4th quarter in game 6. Calderon was a beast.

What went wrong? Nothing! I ain't complaining! Except for one thing: When does the 2007-2008 season start? Thanks Raps, let's do this again next year!
