Not because I want to

Sorry, It's been a while since I've blogged, but work has been CRAZY busy, and I've finally got a Saturday morning to relax and reflect.

What the fuck is up with ABC's two banner primetime shows, "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives"? Their breakout and addictive first seasons have turned into very disappointing second season flops. Sure, it's difficult to follow up such acclaim, the awards, the hype, etc. Sure, it's still better than watching me try to unclog my toilet. But c'mon, this shit is just getting unbelievable (no pun intended).

Michael and Walt are somewhere on the island, and you're not going to look for them? Sawyer is stealing guns because he doesn't know any better? Jin hasn't learned any english yet?

I'm not going to get into Desperate Housewives.

So why am I still watching? Well, it's because I have to. Not so much for Desperate Housewives (I mean, c'mon, as long as Eva Longoria struts half-naked every episode, I'm good), but for Lost -- I've got questions. I need answers. Gimme my answers! (and make them good, because Charlie running around kidnapping babies ain't cutting it).

So I will continue, grudingly. At least Shaun likes it. He keeps messaging me 10 minutes after the episode ends, "Yo, did you see that?" Dawg, I PVR my TV, and watch it later. You know that.

Nostalgia

After Chin's post titled "I Appreciate" , I started thinking about how fun Mike Tyson's punchout was. Good times.

Then I started thinking about it some more. I never beat Mike Tyson, and that bugged me, because I always finish video games. He was impossible! I think I knocked him down once, after a month of playing and being continuously KO'd ... but he got up after a 2 count. I also lasted three rounds against him on another occasion, but the decision went to Tyson. Every other time I faced him? pwnd.

So I wanted another crack. I downloaded an NES emulator, and I am the proud owner of one game. Glass Joe? King Hippo? Don Flamenco? Aaah, the memories flood back like so many toilets that I've clogged. I'm currently fighting Bald Bull (pictured inset). I'm coming for you, Tyson!

Now that I finally got my lazy ass to actually download the emulator, I can relive all of the Nintendo classics from my past. Excitebike, Baseball, Contra. Wicked.

You wanna know what's cool about my new office?

Let me tell you!
  • I sit by a window. After 5 years in an office where a big honking wall seperated us from natural sunlight, you appreciate this like nobody's business!
  • I have a high-back, ergonomically designed chair, that I still slouch in
  • The lunchroom has two TVs, and reception has a big 42" plasma
  • The dividers in my cubicle are high enough to provide me with privacy for ... personal emails (not the other 'p' word)
  • MSN Messenger is on during the day!
  • The commute, although further than my old job, doesn't take much longer. It takes me like 25 minutes
  • Call of Duty every Wednesday during lunch. I didn't know the controls for the first 20 minutes, and I got pwn3d
I love you, new office!
